Overall Rating

21/30
OVERVIEW: The scenario is not bad at all, though it's a bit too far off to really pull in the "Kick Ass"-award. The scen suffers from various drawbacks, described below.

SPECIFICS: Some facts about the scenario.

  • Large map
  • Runs from 1999 til...
  • Lots of new units and improvements have been implemented. Tech tree is largely unchanged.
  • Small tricks have been played with the original civ2 game-texts.

Playability Rating

6 / 10
COMMENTS: The scen seems OK, but the choice I made for the New Zealanders was apparently wrong. This nation was barely playable. Some minor faults further detrimented the playing experience.

Some direct faults were the double placement of capitols, and glitches in some unit graphics.

The atmosphere of the scen is…weird… What to think about the names the author gave to the Difficulty levels? It can be good for a laugh, but he went a bit far, with his otherwise fine (and serious) scen.

The balance of the scen is not too well. Some nations just don't seem to be playable, and the author doesn't warn for this. The land-based nation seem to be OK.

Ah man! This scen could be vastly improved if the humor could be left out (in some cases). Also, the cities seem to be poorly equipped with improvement and irrigation.

Level of General Care

5 / 10
MAP: The map is fine.

FILES: A civilopedia is sorely missed. TXT could be expanded too. The inclusion of .BAK files bewildered me.

TECH TREE: The tech tree is barely changed.

OTHER: The city.txt issue has been taken care of by ommitting the names as a whole.

Art and Originality

8 / 10
COMMENTS: Artwork is fine, though many icons have been taken from elsewhere.

ORIGINALITY: The Humor. That's all that really can be said about it.

NOTES: None.
