2. Backround
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an account of the time when the scenario starts, it does not cover the whole war. For
more detailed infomation I suggest reading one the many books avalible on the subject

This Scenario starts about 4 years after the French revolution and about 3 years before Napoleon
first appers on the secne. The Scenario finishes in 1815 just after the battle of waterloo.
The wars that followed involved every country in Europe with the expection of the tiny republic
of Montenegro which never abanoned it's neutrality.

The scenario starts in 1793 just after king Louis XVI has being executed. Europe is in a state of
shock following this barbaric act, soon after this France (already at war with Austria and
Sardinia) declears war on Holland, Spain and Britain. However at this time France is in a
very difficult position, the treasury is empty, the army is in a state of chaos and the country
is facing famine, not a good position to be fighting most of Europe. Facing these problems
France's chances seemed very slim, but by 1795 France had made peace with Holland and
Spain and had gained Belgium, Luxembourg, small parts of the Rhineland, Savoy and Nice. This
was possible partly because of the bungeling of the allies and partly because of briliant
leadership from Carot (Minister for war) . In 1796 Napoleon Bonepart was given command of the
Armee' de Italia and in just under a year had conqured much of Nothern Italy and forced Austria
to surrender. This events were the foundation for a war which involved every country in Europe
(see above) and which lasted until 1815 and the battle of waterloo.

3. Civ Guide
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

France-

The Civ this scenario is designed for, they need to build up strengh before going on the
offenive.

Britain-

Has a small army but a very strong navy, Industrialised. Can be fun to play

Prussia/Austria-

Has a very strong army and a weak navy, very powerful. A too little easy to play

Ottoman Empire-

Very large, always at war with Russia, strong army, No real industry . Too easy to be fun

Russia-

Very large, strong army, always at war with the Ottomans. Too easy to be fun

Spain-

Weak army, fair sized navy, must not upset France!. A real chalenge to play

Others-

Covers all the civs which I was unable to include (Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland,
Eygpt, Italian states, Venice, Armeanians, North African tribes), should not be played, would be
no fun at all!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Hints and tips
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These tips are for France only as they are the civ that is meant to be played

1) You have a small force at the start but this need to be built up before any major offensive

2) You should try to conquer Holland first, then Italy, then its up to you!

3) Britain is your greatest enemy

thats all the help your geting, after all half the fun is in the suprises!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Historical information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regretably some things in this scenario are not historic correct, this is mostly because of
playability issues, here are the deviations in history in order of importance

1) Austria ans Prussia have been put into one civ (the imaginativly named Austria-Prussia!) this
is done because there were not enough civ slots to have austria and Prussia represented
individualy, I chose to combine Austria and Prussia because they were never actually at war
with each other and beacuse the others civ didn't work as barbarians.

2) Terriortial alterations
These were nessercery because of playability issues, below is a list of the ajustments and the
   reasons behind them

   a) Germany given to Prussia-Austria, this is done to make French Expansion in the region more
      Difficult

   b) Parts of Austrian Nothern Italy given to others, this is done to reduce fighting in
Northern Italy, I found that if the Others and Austrians shared Northern Italy then the
      region quickly desended into chaos

   c) Poland made smaller, this was done to prevent Poland from conquering parts of Prussia and
      Russia!

   d) Parts of North Africa made independent from Ottomans, This is done to stop the Ottomans
      from becoming too powerful

3) Wars

   a) To make the scenario more exicting a decided to have the others at war with everybody this
means that some countries that did not historicaly fight will, please bare this in mind

   b) France and Spain are not at war at the start of the scenario, France and Spain were at war
in 1793 but very little actual fighting took place, so I have decided to make life a little
more easy for the French by removing this 4th front!

4) Uniforms
The uniforms of certain units aren't very accurate this is something I hope to address in
   future versions

7. Credits, thanks to
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all I would like to thank Napoleon himself, without him this scenario would not have
been possible! :)

I would like to thank Michael Jeszenka for some of the units (Prussian Infantry and General among
others) and his swamp terrain, I woulod also like to thank Harlan Thompson for the cossak unit,
most of the other units are modified versions of common units and I would like to thank their
orignal authours, whoever they might be!

I would also like to thank my small army of playtesters: Michael "Evil capitalist" Dnes and
Goddi "Prom" Deigo
